Two held over gun incident

TWO men have been remanded in custody after a gun incident at Elland.

Both faced firearms charges when they appeared at Calderdale Magistrates’ Court in Halifax.

Paul Anthony James Murphy, 35, from Bridge End, Rastrick, and Sean Raymond Harper, 35, of Whinney Hill Park, Brighouse, were charged with possessing a shotgun. Murphy is also accused of possessing a six-inch knife in a public place.

Both were remanded in custody until Friday, September 12 when they will appear at Bradford Crown Court.

The men were arrested after police were called to a disturbance at The Royal Oak at Lower Edge Road, Elland, on Thursday night.

Armed police tailed a Land Rover and stopped it outside the Black Swan, Briggate, Brighouse.
