Award after reopening for Brighouse boozer

IT’S the first certified real ale pub in Brighouse town centre.

The Old Ship Inn, Bethel Street, is the first to win a Campaign for Real Ale (Camra) award for its fine beer.

Landlord and landlady Mark and Katie Feasey picked up the Pub of the Season: Summer 2008 from Calderdale and Halifax Camra.

The pub reopened six months ago and has since served 18 guest brews.

Mr Feasey said: “I’m really pleased for ourselves, but also Brighouse.

“We’ve really turned the pub around because it used to be a bad place in the past.

“This is just the start of the journey for us and we will make the pub a really good place to come.”
