Monster cabbage contest

GARDENERS have grown extra-large cabbages on a Huddersfield allotment.

Nahar Singh and Lloyd Alexis grew them on Crosland Moor Allotments.

Lloyd, 70, of Springwood, said: “I only use dry grass and cow manure. The cabbage is about the size of a big watermelon and I’ll give it away.”

Lloyd, who is in friendly competition with Nahar, who has a neighbouring plot, admitted: “His cabbage is bigger than mine this time.”
