Camera crew hits town with a crash

IT looked like a typical accident scene.

Two cars collided at King’s Bridge in Newsome yesterday morning.

A young woman lay sprawled on the street. Broken glass littered the road.

The area was cordoned off as police and paramedics rushed to help the injured woman.

But thankfully this was not a real-life accident – but rather a scene from an upcoming TV show.

Actors and crew were in the area filming part of the three-part ITV drama Unforgiven.

The junction of Newsome Road, King’s Bridge, Damside and King’s Mill Lane was closed from 6am to 1pm yesterday while the accident scene was filmed.

A dark blue Ford Mondeo and a maroon Ford Escort were positioned as if they had collided on the junction of King’s Bridge and Damside. A purple minibus, an ambulance and a police car were also at the scene.
