Police make several arrests during crime blitz

POLICE made arrests within minutes of a two-day crime blitz in part of Huddersfield.
Police and other agencies began the operation in Newsome, Lowerhouses and Almondbury yesterday – and had made three arrests by late morning.
One man was stopped and searched at the bottom of Newsome near King’s Bridge. He was found to have a locking knife on him and was arrested on suspicion of carrying an offensive weapon.
One teenager wanted by police was spotted on a bus and followed into Huddersfield town centre where he was arrested on suspicion of breaching a community order.
Ironically he was on his way to Huddersfield Magistrates to support a friend who was due in court.
