MORE than 30 people were evacuated early today when fire broke out in a Huddersfield restaurant. Fire crews were called at 1.20am to Bar 1535 in the Melting Point complex of apartments in Firth Street and Queen Street South. Residents in one of the blocks were evacuated as crews dealt with a blaze in a storage room. The blaze was confined to a washer/drier in which towels had been dried. The residents were allowed back to their homes after 30 minutes. Read

POLICE are hunting four men after a raid on a house in Kirkheaton. Two of the men were disturbed by the occupant of the house in Cockley Hill Lane after trying to drive off in this car. They had broken into the house through a patio door and taken keys and other property. The men were white, in their 20s, and skinny. One wore a white baseball cap and a baggy red jacket, while the second had a dark blue Adidas top and dark tracksuit trousers. Police believe they were with two other men, who may be an Asian male and a white man in his 40s. They had been seen acting suspiciously in the area days earlier. Read
