Families of Jade and Danny: Answers but no justice

RELATIVES of two teenagers killed in a high-speed crash in Huddersfield say their two-year wait for answers is over – but they still do not have justice.
A coroner yesterday recorded a verdict of unlawful killing on 17-year-olds Jade Rice and Daniel Atkinson, who died on January 29, 2006.
The car they were travelling in hit a tree on Bradley Road.
The driver, Mohammed Tanwir, escaped with minor injuries. The two-day inquest heard that he had been travelling at 80mph when he lost control of his Toyota Corolla and it hit the tree at a speed of around 55mph.
Mr Tanwir, of Shipley, has faced two prosecutions – one for dangerous driving, another for failing to stop. But both were dismissed due to insufficient evidence.
The facts of what happened on the fateful night had not been fully aired until the inquest – leaving relatives of the two youngsters waiting almost three years for answers.
Jade’s stepfather Barry Noble said: “The only explanation we have got is two years and eight months on and only because he’s been obliged to attend.
