Power cut hits homes

THOUSANDS of homes lost power in a major electricity cut.

The cut at 7.45pm last night affected a total of 3,500 homes in the Shepley area along with parts of Lower Cumberworth, New Mill, Highburton and Upper Denby.

Power was restored to all but 31 homes in Lower Cumberworth by 10.30pm. The fault is in an underground high voltage cable.
