School in the spotlight: Kirkheaton Primary School

A friendly school with a warm atmosphere, good community links and a strong team ethos has a fitting motto. HAZEL ETTIENNE reports

TOGETHER Everyone Achieves More is a fitting motto at Kirkheaton Primary School.

It’s strong community links, dedicated staff, supportive parents and well-behaved children all create a friendly school which focuses on the whole child, their achievements and personal development.

Headteacher Samantha Gallant, just two weeks in post, is delighted to have moved to a school with a warm atmosphere and committed staff.

“There are so many dedicated people working here. They teach with care and passion for the children and the school is well thought of within the local community.”

Mrs Gallant is keen to build on the success which the school has already achieved – it was named as a good school with outstanding features by Ofsted in June 2006.

It has already put measures in place to improve and develop the school.
