Fall in police complaints

THE number of complaints received by West Yorkshire Police has fallen by the largest margin of any police force in the country.

In 2007/8 the number of complaint cases handled by the Force fell by 22% from 1,019 to 797.

The figures come from a report published today by the Independent Police Complaints Commission entitled Police Complaints: Statistics for England and Wales 2007/8.

The report also showed a 14% reduction in the number of allegations made against officers and that 96% of the complaints that were investigated were unsubstantiated.
