Family hurt in pan fire

A FAMILY including a six-month-old baby boy were taken to hospital for burns and smoke inhalation following a fire in Dewsbury Moor.

They were led to safety from the house in Pilgrim Crescent at about 4am this morning by fire crews.

A man and woman suffered burns to their feet during the incident when a fire started in a pan of oil on the cooker.

The other two adults and the baby were taken to Dewsbury District Hospital for routine check-ups and treatment for smoke inhalation.

The family were believed to be cooking before sunrise as part of Ramadan, when Muslims fast during the day.

Two fire crews from Dewsbury tackled the fire and used special ventilation equipment to clear the badly smoke-logged house.

Fire crews were in Dewsbury Moor today, fitting smoke alarms which are free to any household in West Yorkshire.
