Play area is a big success

A NEW adventure play area is proving a hit with children in Almondbury.

The playground, off Somerset Road, is aimed at eight to 13-year-old’s and includes climbing frames and mini goal posts.

Kirklees Council’s Huddersfield South Area Committee funded the £30,000 project after children said that there was little for them to do in the area.

Clr Linda Wilkinson welcomed the opening of the play area. She said: “The new play area is already a hit. Following the success of the refurbished play area for younger children in another part of the same park, I’m delighted that provision has been made for older children, who often tell us that there’s little for them to do in the local area.”
