Recycling plan for villages
THOUSANDS of rural residents will receive green bins for the first time.
Kirklees Council is making it easier for people in outlying areas to recycle.
Some 10,500 homes in rural areas currently have black bags for unsorted waste, and no recycling collection.
But 80% of these properties should this month receive grey bins for general waste and green bins for recycling waste, including paper, cardboard and tin.
The remaining 20% of houses, which are unsuitable for wheeled bin collections because of their isolated locations, will instead receive green bin liners and green dustbins for their recyclable waste.
Some 10,100 of the properties will also get a box for glass recycling.
