Tragic story of woman who came back from the dead

A WOMAN defied medics by coming back from the dead – only to die in a later accident.

A Huddersfield inquest heard that Gillian Barnes was declared clinically dead when she fell after taking anti-anxiety tablets banned in the UK.

The 58-year-old from Cleckheaton recovered, but struggled to control the depression she had suffered from for years, and her drinking problems spiralled out of control.

Coroner Roger Whittaker heard that the former supply teacher had been affected by a number of tragedies in the years before her death.

Her first husband Asad Aouad, who was Lebanese, was murdered in a shooting in 1973, just two years after their wedding in Denmark.
