Brother successfully driven round bend!

FORGET sibling rivalry – driving instructor Kate Taylor has helped her brother pass his driving test at the first attempt with no faults.

And the secret to her success is remaining patient and calm, not necessarily an easy thing to do with a 17-year-old in the driving seat.

Kate, who works from the Learner Driver Training Centre in Moldgreen, was delighted when brother Michael Harvey asked for lessons after celebrating his birthday on April 9.

And he passed his first test with no minor faults on his examination sheet, even though 15 are allowed for a pass.

Kate, 30, who has been a driving instructor for five years, said: “It can be difficult teaching family and friends how to drive, but Michael was very good and I’ve no complaints. People say I’m really patient and calm and we got along just fine.

“The only problem was he kept forgetting his driving shoes. He’s a trainee mechanic at our dad’s garage, Park View Cars in Halifax Old Road, Birkby and was always in his boots for lessons.

“I’m delighted he passed first time. I taught him in return for babysitting hours with his nephew and nieces, so he’s clocked up quite a few which he owes me now!”

Michael said: “She was fine as an instructor. We get on really well and I know I’m going to be doing a lot of babysitting.”
