Barry Sheerman said he was delighted that the performance was taking place at such a high-profile venue and urged people to support the event.
He said: “If we can fill every one of those seats at the Palladium, we will be able to make a lot of money for a worthy charity.
“I took my children to see Me And My Girl when they were young and it’s a fun show.
“The charity events have a fun atmosphere and everyone is there to have a good time while knowing they are helping a good cause.”
Stars of stage and screen are expected to be in the audience for the event, including Little Britain’s Matt Lucas, Robert Lindsay – who played the part of Bill in the 1980s West End run of Me And My Girl – and comedian Mel Giedroyc.
The show has already had support from actors Stephen Fry and Joanna Lumley, who have sent flamboyant messages of support.
Mr Fry said: “Oh how I admire you. Oh what are you thinking of? Oh, you wild, wonderful, fond and foolish people, the very, very, very, very, very, best of luck to you.”
Ms Lumley added: “Be fabulous, you brave and brilliant people! Break legs and hearts in equal measure – my love to all of you.”
The cast of the show will be signing up as bone marrow donors at a special clinic being held by the Anthony Nolan Trust at King’s College in London on Saturday.
The following day they will be promoting the show by singing songs from West End shows at a press day at the Covent Garden Piazza.
l Me And My Girl will be showing at the Palladium at Argyll Street from 7.30pm. Tickets cost between £17.50 and £39, depending on which seats you choose. You can book tickets or find out more about the show by visiting www.meandmygirl2008.co.uk or calling 0870 8900145.
l Almost 700 copies of Baldy’s Book have been sold since last Monday.
The book – which is number one seller in Huddersfield Waterstone’s book shops – is a collation of Adrian Sudbury’s posts from his popular Baldy’s Blog.
