Firebugs torch cars and bins in spate of arson attacks

FIREFIGHTERS have been kept busy with a spate of arson attacks across Huddersfield overnight.

Crews were tied up at first dealing with bin fires – and then several car fires needed dousing.

The wheeled bins were set on fire on Dryclough Road, Crosland Moor; Oak Tree Road, Fenay Bridge and Aldonley in Almondbury.

Shortly after 1am firefighters were sent to tackle a blazing car on Morton Green off Thorpe Lane in Almondbury.

It was wrecked by the inferno, but as the fire crews were returning to Huddersfield fire station they responded to reports of another car fire.
