Vandals target brickworks site

ARSONISTS have set fire to a disused brickworks ... again.

The former brickworks at Blackley above Elland has been derelict for years and has become an eyesore.

Smoke was spotted coming from the brickworks at 5.20am on Saturday morning.

Crews from Elland and Brighouse fire stations responded – and called for back-up from Huddersfield.

A West Yorkshire Fire And Rescue Service spokesman said: “There is rubbish including plastics and felt in there which give off a lot of smoke

“The place has been disused for years and we are often called to deal with fires here. The trouble is it can tie up vital resources while other major incidents may happen elsewhere.”
