Young to get a taste of Bollywood
INDIAN dance is hoping to make its mark in Huddersfield.
And youngsters in the town are being urged to get themselves involved.
The Hudawi Cultural Centre played host to the launch of the Yorkshire Indian dance arts music academy (yidama) on Saturday, and children turned up in their dozens to see what they are all about.
The academy has been organised by Manasamitra, an artist-led organisation based in Yorkshire which was set up in February, 2005.
Its aim is to promote traditional Asian music and dance.
The launch gave organisers the chance to showcase their artists and teachers, as well as inviting children to offer their ideas of what they want to see happening in the future months with the academy.
