Trio chased Huddersfield man to his death: court claim
Oct 8 2008 by Joanne Douglas, Huddersfield Daily Examiner
ONE of the three men accused of chasing a Huddersfield man to his death believed he wouldn’t “get done”, a court heard.
Francis Conway, known as Frank, formerly of Berry Brow, died after being hit by a recovery truck as he fled three armed men in the early hours of June 22 last year.
Caleb Coleman, 21, Wayne Lee, 22, and 18-year-old Jamie Nichols are all standing trial accused of manslaughter. The Bradford men all deny the charge.
It is alleged that they chased the former King James’ Grammar School pupil to his death when they were armed with what looked like a pickaxe handle.
Witness Craig Booth had been smoking cannabis with the three men in the early hours of June 22. He was initially arrested in connection with the incident but later released without charge.
