Hospital check led to woman’s death
Oct 9 2008 by Emma Davison, Huddersfield Daily Examiner
Nurses on duty on the cardiac ward during Mrs Gillespie’s time in hospital told the inquest that she had complained of pains in her leg and back following the angiogram, but they had been unconcerned as it was normal to feel discomfort after the procedure.
Alison Wilson said: “I saw some blood on her gown, but that wasn’t unusual as it (bleeding) can happen during an angiogram. I checked the puncture site but I saw no evidence of bleeding.”
Mr Marks said told Mrs Gillespie’s many relatives present at yesterday’s hearing that her case was complex, but added that in his view she died from a heart attack, bleeding from her artery and renal failure.
