Call for speed cameras on ‘road of death’

Clr David Hall, Kirklees Council Cabinet member for road safety, said the highways department is looking at ways of reducing accidents on Wakefield Road, including cutting the speed of traffic.

He added: “We are fully aware of residents’ views and will discuss our proposals with them.

“Actions we are taking include looking at ways of reducing accidents on Wakefield Road and take into account the speed of traffic.

“These have seen a significant reduction in accidents in the last two years.”
