Landlords fall foul of satellite TV provider
Oct 13 2008 by Sam Casey, Huddersfield Daily Examiner
PUBS are still suffering a TV football black-out – despite promises from their satellite provider that problems would be fixed.
As reported last month, landlords from the Rose and Crown in Almondbury and the Waterloo Tavern in Waterloo complained after months without coverage of top football matches.
They had shelled out thousands of pounds for the non-existent service after signing contracts with north east-based QC Leisure.
The company claimed its services had been affected because of financial problems caused by a massive legal battle with the Premier League over rights to show games.
Within days of the Examiner’s story on September 16, QC Leisure boss David Richardson wrote to Richard Howe, who runs the Rose and Crown, and Phil Bradshaw, from the Waterloo.
