Unique chance for new talent to shine

THEY have enjoyed national and international fame – now they want others to follow them.

Hollywood actor Patrick Stewart, Chocolat author Joanne Harris and Millennium Poet Simon Armitage are calling for budding Huddersfield writers to submit work for brand new anthology

As the deadline for submissions to a unique anthology draws near, Stewart has joined forces with the two leading writers in a call for undiscovered talent to come forward.

Two international writing competitions – one for short stories and one for poetry – will be judged by Harris and Armitage for inclusion in Grist, a new anthology which seeks to publish budding writers from all localities alongside established authors and poets.

Star Trek legend Stewart, who is also Chancellor of the University of Huddersfield, said: “By putting emerging writers alongside some of the biggest names in contemporary literature, Grist provides a unique opportunity for those starting out as writers.”
