BROTHERS beat a father with a brick and a stepladder to get revenge on his son, a court heard yesterday.
Marc and Danny Boothroyd Jr, 18, and 20, attacked Brian Monkhouse in his garden the day after an alleged incident between Mr Monkhouse’s son Gary and the brothers’ father, Danny Boothroyd Sr, Bradford Crown Court was told.
Mr Monkhouse, of Teddington Avenue, Dalton, suffered a broken cheekbone and lost a tooth in the incident on May 13, 2007.
Danny Boothroyd Sr, 42, of Long Lane, Dalton, Marc Boothroyd, of Equilibrium, Lindley, and Danny Boothroyd Jr, of Cow Heys, Dalton, deny causing grievous bodily harm. Danny Boothroyd Jr denies having an offensive weapon.
Opening the prosecution’s case, counsel John Topham told a jury of eight men and four women that the three men had appeared at Mr Monkhouse’s home threatening to “sort out” his son.
Mr Topham said: “The father Danny Boothroyd Sr was upset in that incident and so he and his two sons came round to Teddington Avenue in the day intent on violence.
“It may have been they were looking for Gary. He was not there when they arrived; they therefore attacked Brian Monkhouse intending to cause grievous bodily harm.”
