Convoy’s mission to Romanian villages

FAMILIES in Romania are to benefit from an aid convoy which sets off from Huddersfield next month.
A team of eight volunteers from the Oak Tree Foundation are delivering much-needed humanitarian aid to some of the poorest rural communities in the first two weeks of November.
Church groups, scouts, the Women’s Institute and kindhearted people have adopted Romanian families and collected clothing, blankets, towels, toys, and stationery for each group.
The aid will be delivered to the villages of Gageni and Danes during the 10-day trip.
Slaithwaite man Roy Bowden, who co-ordinates the Foundation said: “This is the first time that the Adopt a Family scheme has been used. It has been particularly successful because it has been helping the people of Huddersfield and Halifax respond with a personal touch empathising and identifying with Romanian families.”
