But Mr Bayliss said: “We know James Collier and Bradley Okoro know each other because there were phone calls made to and from each of their phones to the other on that night.

“We also know they know each other because on July 8, 2006, Bradley Okoro and James Collier jointly fought with other men in Manchester.

“And at 2.30am on July 31, 2006, Bradley Okoro and James Collier were involved in a fight with other men on Cross Church Street.

“The prosecution say this evidence that the two men engaged in street violence together demonstrates that they are not only associates but have the propensity to engage in street violence when they are together.”

Okoro was not in court.

The trial continues.
