Health services get a mixed diagnosis
Oct 17 2008 by Emma Davison, Huddersfield Daily Examiner
MENTAL health services in Huddersfield have been rated excellent – but GP surgeries across the area have only been classed as fair.
South West Yorkshire Mental Health NHS Trust got the top rating for its quality of services for the second time in the health watchdog’s Annual Health Check.
Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Trust – which runs Huddersfield Royal Infirmary and Calderdale Royal Hospital – was also rated excellent.
The review is a comprehensive assessment of how the NHS is performing and rates organisations as excellent, good, fair or weak.
South West Yorkshire Mental Health NHS Trust was rated as ‘excellent’ for quality of services and ‘fair’ for use of resources, which means it performed very well with some areas for improvement.
The Trust serves people with mental health problems and learning disabilities in the Kirklees, Calderdale and Wakefield areas.
