Firefighters rescue stricken kitten from well - pictures

The cat stuck down the well

A CAT used one of its nine lives after falling down a well in its owner’s garden.

Firefighters rescued the young cat at a house on Bradley Road, Bradley, just after 9.30am yesterday.

The problem began when the pet was sitting in the garden when its owners arrived home in their car.

The noise scared the cat, which ran away, jumped over a wall and fell through a gap in a grate which was placed over the well.

It landed on a stone lintel 15ft down the 35ft well.

A crew from Huddersfield fire station was called.

At first firefighters lowered a bucket with meat inside down the well, hoping the cat could climb in and be pulled up.
