Marsden Mechanics seek help to revamp village hall
VOLUNTEERS are needed to help revamp a village hall.
Marsden Mechanics is looking for people to help raise up to £20,000 for a new kitchen.
Hall supervisor Janet Maude said: “It’s had 17 years’ use and it’s ready for a thorough refurbishment. We’re open to any ideas to raise money.”
Mrs Maude has also asked villagers to come forward to serve on the hall’s management committee.
She said: “We have our AGM on November 4 and we need to elect four community representatives. Anyone who would like to come along and help would be more than welcome.”
The hall in Peel Street is run by a 15-strong committee, including representatives of Kirklees Council, the Mikron Theatre and Marsden Community Association.
Meanwhile, Colne Valley Twinning Committee is hosting a Hallowe’en dance at the hall on Saturday, November 1. Tickets, £6, are available from the hall.
Marsden Silver Prize Brass Band is performing in a remembrance evening concert on Saturday, November 8. Tickets, £6, are from the hall.
Mrs Maude also thanked The Cuckoo’s Nest charity shop in Peel Street which has just given the Mechanics £1,000.
