St George's Square works cause chaos

REVAMP work has brought traffic chaos to St George’s Square.

The latest stage of Kirklees Council’s £4m project is creating huge problems for pedestrians and motorists using Huddersfield railway station, says one commuter.

Access to the car park next to the George Hotel has been reduced to single file.

Carol Wilby, who travels to Manchester each day, says getting in and out has become a nightmare.

But Mrs Wilby, 52, of Mirfield, says the situation was worse several days ago when taxi drivers parked in the drop-off area and in front of parked cars.

Mrs Wilby, a civil servant, added that the provision for pedestrians was inadequate and they risked being hit by cars.
