Theatre group visits ‘green’ junior school
THE Twisting Yarn Theatre company visited South Crosland Junior School.
Pupils took part in an environmental theatre workshop as part of a tour of schools chosen to receive free solar panels with cash from the Co-op.
The play, The Crow Scarers, has been commissioned by the Co-op as part of its Green Energy for Schools scheme.
It builds on the work taking place at the school following the switch-on of solar panels in June.
The school is among 100 in the UK to have received £20,000 solar panels, half paid for by the Co-op and an equal amount from the Government’s Low Carbon Building Programme.
The play shows how the environment has been affected by the different ways a patch of land has been used. Pupils made crows for the show, using recycled materials.
