CAPSULE GIVES UP ITS SECRETS
SEE inside the Tardis time capsule.
A glass bottle buried beneath the foundation stone at Longwood Mechanics Hall 150 years has been opened to reveal its secrets from a long bygone era.
It was amazing how much was in there – and the insight it gave into life in the early years of Queen Victoria’s reign.
The capsule was revealed a month ago when builders improving the hall’s porch dug it up.
Hall manager Derek Fairbank knew the capsule was there and asked the builders to try to find it – which they did.
The capsule was a specially-made glass bottle filled with tightly-rolled papers tied with thread.
