Mystery of experienced biker crash
Nov 1 2008 by Andrew Hirst, Huddersfield Daily Examiner
A CRASH that killed a Huddersfield biker may have resulted from him braking hard on a bend, an inquest has heard.
Robert Dyson, 54, lost control of his 750cc Suzuki GSXR at the summit of Holme Moss on the A6024 Woodhead road, near Glossop, at around 8pm on June 12.
The foreman veered across the road, came off the motorcycle and then collided with an oncoming BMW 330. He died at the scene from multiple injuries.
It was a dry, sunny evening and Mr Dyson, an experienced motorcyclist, was with out riding a familiar route with three biker pals.
He lived at Field Head, Upper Clough in Linthwaite.
One of them, John Mallinson, told the Chesterfield inquest yesterday: “Bob wasn't going to come out, but he changed his mind at the last minute.”
Mr Mallinson said Mr Dyson was at the rear of the group. They had passed the summit when they realised he was not behind them and turned back.
