Search on for our greatest grandparents!

THE search is on to find the Huddersfield area’s greatest grandparent.
Age Concern has this year teamed up with Specsavers to find the UK’s Grandparent of the Year for 2009.
The contest will give local children over the age of six the chance to nominate their beloved grandparents and tell everyone why their grandma or grandad should be crowned Grandparent of the Year.
Grandparents save families a total of £3.9bn every year by providing two-thirds of all childcare in the UK for free.
The competition aims to recognise this and the key role they play in family life.
Adrian Hawkins, Specsavers store director in Huddersfield, said: “We are delighted to support Age Concern to find the Grandparent of the Year for the second year running.
“It’s wonderful to have the opportunity to help local families recognise the pivotal role grandparents play in the lives of those around them.”
Those shortlisted as finalists will travel to London for a reception at the House of Commons.
