'Deaf and dumb' conwoman tricks way into pensioners' home

A YOUNG couple conned their way into the home of two elderly women after pretending to have a hamper for them.

The man and woman called at the victims’ home on Carr Lane in Slaithwaite at about 2pm yesterday. The woman pretended to be deaf and dumb.

They claimed to be calling at homes to sort out Christmas hampers and were allowed in.

The man then asked to use the toilet and disappeared upstairs.
