Website plan for war dead names

COUNCILLORS were today expected to agree to a new future for the area’s war memorials.
A Kirklees Council Ad Hoc Scrutiny Review reports today on the progress on the recording and upkeep of war memorials.
They are likely to back a scheme costing £30,000 a year to create an online database to record details from all the memorials.
Fittingly, the decision was being determined in the week the country pays tribute to the war dead.
The database will launch with a pilot website.
This is likely to be completed and set up this month.
It will give information initially on war memorials maintained by Kirklees Council.
