Website plan for war dead names

Clr Sheard added: “A recent visit to the National Arboretum brought it home to me how many people have given their lives since WWII and how our monuments should be kept up to date.

“They are as relevant now as

they ever were.”

Since the panel published its recommendations in July this year, some have been implemented.

This has included stone and plaque cleaning and structural repairs of war memorials in Cleckheaton Memorial Park and Batley Memorial Park.

There is also a bid for extra cash to step up cleaning and restoration work on many monuments.
