Teenagers who shot woman in head escape custodial sentence
Nov 6 2008 by Andrew Hirst, Huddersfield Daily Examiner
Mrs Cornell and husband, Ian, had already been contemplating leaving Huddersfield – and the motiveless shooting hastened their decision.
The couple moved to Blackpool in May and now run a guest house in the Lancashire seaside resort. They have a 20-year-old son, Steven.
Speaking exclusively to the Examiner, Mrs Cornell said: “Both now have criminal records which will impact on their lives for many years to come.
“I understand the weapon they used has never been found. If I could have spoken to them, I’d have simply asked them why they did it.
“It could have been a lot worse. The airgun pellet hit me in the head, but doctors told me if it had hit me in the eye I would have been blinded.
