Teenagers who shot woman in head escape custodial sentence

“When I saw the pellet my knees went to jelly,” she said.
“Apparently there are five layers of skin surrounding your skull. The pellet had gone through four of them. Doctors said if it had hit me in the eye I would have been blinded.”
Afterwards she was too nervous to go into her garden.
The case was investigated by Pc Iain Campbell who is based at Huddersfield police station.
Mrs Cornell said: “The police were very supportive and we were very pleased with the investigation.
“Apparently information came in after the initial story in the Examiner which led to the two arrests so I’m very thankful to the readers who took the time and trouble to phone in.”
