Driver used blue badge of dead mum-in-law

A PARKING cheat from Huddersfield who used his dead mother-in-law’s blue badge was ordered to pay more than £1,200, following a Manchester City Council prosecution.

Brett Hobbs was among seven motorists who pleaded guilty to abusing or misusing the blue badge system at Manchester Magistrates Court.

They were all caught out during City Council investigations in Manchester city centre earlier this year and, together, the fines and costs came to a total of £4,684.

Hobbs, 36, a civil engineer from Radcliffe Road, Golcar, Huddersfield, was fined £950 and ordered to pay £314 costs – a total of £1,264 – after his white Ford Escort van was seen parked in Mount Street on May 22, displaying a blue badge belonging to his dead mother-in-law.
