HUDDERSFIELD people gathered last night to celebrate the election of Barack Obama.
Mr Obama became the first mixed-race man to be elected US president last week.
Fay Macintosh, who helped organise the celebration at the Hudawi Centre, believes it’s important to mark the moment.
She said: “He’s the first black man to be in this position and that makes us all very proud.”
Fartown singer D Bo General performed at the event, which hosted Milton Brown, chief executive of the Parents of Black Children Association.
