Conmen demand call-out money

TWO neighbours in their 80s were targeted by bogus ‘water board’ officials.
And they gave the classic con a new twist by demanding call-out money.
A doorstep trickster knocked on the door of an 83-year-old man on Dalton Green Lane in Dalton at 1.20pm yesterday.
He claimed to be from the Water Board and told him there had been a leak nearby and said he needed to turn the stop cock off.
He asked the man to run some taps and asked for call-out cash. The man gave him some money and then heard the intruder speaking to another man.
When they had gone he discovered money had been taken.
