THE DOORS have opened at Kirkwood Hospice’s charity shop in Slaithwaite.

Granville Sutton, who chairs the trustees of Kirkwood Hospice, officially opened the premises – the charity’s 13th in Kirklees.

Customers were greeted with bucks fizz and chocolates.

The shop, at Britannia Road, sells a variety of second hand clothing, bric-a-brac, books, toys, hospice Christmas cards and the latest version of the of Bag for Life.

Angela Dyson, retail co-ordinator for the hospice, said: ‘Everyone at the hospice is looking forward to having a presence in Slaithwaite.

“I hope that the shop will become a real feature of the Slaithwaite community with local people volunteering at the shop, donating goods for sale and of course shopping with us.”
