Councillors tried to ‘hoodwink’ parents over school closures

She said: “It’s nonsense to say that I wanted the school to shut. The parents know that they have always had my support, I was one of the marshals when we had a march protesting against the closure.
“I’m amazed and appalled that Shahid Malik has taken this tack. I understand he would like to keep Castle Hall open and so would I. Why is he arguing with me if we want the same thing?
“I don’t understand this outright animosity.”
Clr Lees added that Mr Malik did not raise the issue with her when the pair met after Mirfield’s Remembrance Day parade last Sunday.
