Don’t tip, share skip, residents are urged

PEOPLE are being urged to get rid of their waste responsibly by sharing a skip.
National Share-A-Skip Week has just finished, but its organisers are still calling on neighbours to share the cost of a skip to dispose of their bulky waste, rather than fly-tip it.
Members of the Manchester-based project say fly-tipping has hit an all-time high in the UK, with someone, somewhere dumping rubbish, on average, every 35 seconds.
In Kirklees there were about 2,500 fly-tipping incidents last year; they cost £143,700 to clear up.
