Huddersfield’s MP wants help for autistic children

MINISTERS were urged by Huddersfield’s MP to “pull their fingers out” and take action over support for children with autism.
Labour’s Barry Sheerman, who chairs the Commons Children, Schools and Families Select Committee, said there was too much shilly shallying on the subject of educational provision.
He highlighted a report by his committee two years ago and demanded faster movement from the Government.
The then Education Select Committee called for stronger guidelines for councils to end a “postcode lottery” of provision.
