A HANDS-ON approach to learning is the key at Kirkburton C of E First School.

This friendly school with a family atmosphere ensures everyone plays their part in this thriving community.

And that means individual pupils having their own job to do, from handing out books and equipment to filling water bottles and leading sessions in the playground.

The school is proud to have attained Investors in Pupils status, which recognises its commitment to getting children involved in their own learning, the way the school is run and the work which teaching staff do.

And its 10-strong school council, led by teacher Sue McBurney, is at the heart of developing the school community for everyone and getting involved in a variety of projects to learning and improving life for all.
