A SHARED reading project is extending links between Holmfirth and Malawi.
Holmfirth High School and the Masasa Community Day Secondary School (CDSS) in Mzuzu, Northern Malawi, Africa have enjoyed strong links for several years.
And now more than 300 reading books suitable for teenagers have been sent from Holmfirth to students following the school’s reading week in October.
In Malawi there is a strong culture of sharing and the students will swap the books with each other.
The books form part of a shipment which has been sent to Malawi organised by the Christian African Relief Trust in Lockwood.
It also included five ‘classrooms in a box’ donated by Shelterbox.org – these contain 250 school bags with pens, pencils, notebook, a maths set and a ruler.
