HOMEOWNERS have been promised their council tax will only rise modestly over the next two years, despite the credit crunch.
Kirklees Council’s leader Robert Light said he planned to stick to plans to increase council tax by 3% for the next two years.
Clr Light said: “We are not going to charge our residents any more than planned.
“We obviously face some tough budget decisions this year due to the Labour government’s mismanagement of the economy and, despite the impact of the credit crunch and rising fuel costs, the Government have not given Kirklees any extra funding to keep costs down.”
